Traditional Music Cruise

This cruise departes Ashford Castle pier daily at 6:00pm from July 1st to August 31st. Passengers board the "Isle Of Inisfree" and take a one hour cruise on Lough Corrib enjoying some excellent views of the Connemara mountains, the 365 islands on Lough Corrib and Ashford Castle. During the cruise, passenger are entertained by our resident musician, Martin Noon.

On this cruise one can enjoy cocktails from our onboard cocktail bar.

Island Cruise


This cruise departs Ashford Castle Pier,Cong daily at 2:45pm, boarding at 2:30pm.Passengers who are not staying at Ashford Castle Hotel and do not want to pay to enter the grounds of Ashford Castle can catch this same cruise at Lisloughery Pier,Cong,which is a public pier, at 3p.m,boarding at 2.45p.m.

This is a two hour cruise which includes a 40 minute visit to Inchagoill Island, the lakes most famous island. Having left Ashford Castle, the "Isle Of Inisfree" briefly visits Lisloughery quay from where passenger steamers once operated. One can join the cruise at this point too at 3:00pm.

This cruise arrives at Inchagoill at approx 3:30pm for a 40 minute visit. While on the island passengers are taken on a guided tour of St. Patrick's 5th Century Monastic site. Historic points of interest include:

  1. 1St. Patricks Church (5th Century)

  2. 2The stone of Lugna (470AD: Gravestone of St. Patricks navigator)

  3. 3The Church of the Saints (Built in 1180AD by the Augustinian Monks of Cong)

  4. 4The burial tomb of Muirgeas O'Nioc (Archbishop of Tuam in 1128AD)


After the guided tour, passengers board the "Isle Of Inisfree" for Ashford Castle, arriving there at 5:00pm.

History Cruise


Each and every morning we offer a history cruise to guests at Ashford Castle and day visitors are also welcome. Come and join local historian and boat captain Patrick Luskin as he takes you on a facinating journey through time. Patrick has a vast knowledge of this area and indeed in 2003 published his first local history book entitled "A Voyage Of Discovery". Personally sighned copies can be obtained on board or in the gift shop at Ashford Castle.

During the cruise one will experience some breath-taking scenery on Lough Corrib, with it's 365 islands and surrounding Connemara mountains. You will also have a great oppurtunity to photograph Ashford Castle from the water.


The cruise also includes a brief visit to "the old steamers quay" from where heavy steamers once ferried passengers and goods to Galway. The duration of this cruise is 1hr 15minutes and boarding is at Ashford Castle pier at 10.30am daily.

Note: This cruise operates out of Ashford Castle, Cong, Co. Mayo every day of the year, except Christmas day, the day after and New year's day.
